Are You Making This Mistake In Your Marketing?
Here’s something I discovered after analyzing hundreds of ads.
Most of them absolutely suck at getting clients.
Some ads are funny. Some ads are cinematic (whatever that means). Some ads are memorable. But if they don’t get clients… who cares?
In this article I’ll show you the biggest mistake you can make in your advertising and how to fix it.
Let’s get into it:
What NOT To Do When Writing Ads
Let’s start off with a basic principle.
If I wanted to get you to buy something, could be anything, would I:
1. Dress up like a clown so I can get you to laugh first?
2. Bring a cute animal like a puppy or a kitten to aid in the sale?
3. Play loud blaring music and use epic visual effects and cinematography?
4. Be extremely vague and unambiguous about what I’m trying to get you to buy?
If you’ve answered NO to all of the above we’re off to a great start.
Because that’s exactly what you wouldn’t do to get someone to buy something.
The First Step Writing A Winning Advertisement
So what do we do instead?
The ONLY two reasons why people buy anything:
They’re either running away from their pain
– “Hemorrhoids? Use this cream and get instant relief”
– ”Does your back hurt? Plan your chiropractic visit today”
OR
They are running towards their desire
– ”Small finger? Use this ancient Buddhist practice and grow any extremity”
– ”Looking for a summer fling? Take our Spanish classes today!”
This means that whenever you create something, it doesn’t matter if it sounds good, or if the words are fancy and sophisticated…
The most important thing to remember is that it has to be something they NEED.
Sometimes people buy things they want, but most of the time, they buy things they need.
If you’re having trouble attracting clients, chances are pretty good that THIS is what is causing it.
