So Why Do Most Ads Fail Miserably?
It’s not because the product or service is bad.
Not because Facebook sucks
– it’s actually the best possible way to reach your perfect client –
But because advertisers fail to include ONE simple thing.
They don’t use a CTA.
There’s no Call To Action. Which means, the ad doesn’t tell the customer WHAT to do!
And a confused customer does the WORST thing imaginable…
…nothing.
Here’s how you fix this:
How To Use A CTA
Too many people run ads and then say to themselves:
“Yes, this was really good for brand building… We got a lot of likes and views… I showed it to my grandma and she really liked it…”
WHO CARES.
We need a number.
How many sales, How many leads, email addresses, appointments…
This shows us everything.
And we have two ways of doing that:
The first is by using a purchase offer.
“Buy one get one free” or “Only today 30% off” and so on.
Now I am not a big fan of using this directly in the ad, because:
- It invites price shopping.
You have to name a price and then it’s really easy to compare you to others.
- It only targets people who are ready to buy right now.
So you ignore the vast majority of people that might be in the market, but are not ready to buy this second.
- It trains your audience to wait for a better deal.
“If I wait, I might get a bigger discount.”
Because of this, I prefer lead generation offers.
This could be:
Watch this video, read this article or get this free piece of information for the exchange of your contact.
Something that is clear, free and easy to say yes to.
Why Is Lead Generation So Good?
Let’s say someone is thinking of buying a new lawnmower. We can say:
“These are 4 things you need to know before you buy a lawnmower”
And they give you their contact for this list.
We can now very easily use a purchase offer at the end of the list saying:
“If you want one of these lawnmowers, we have a great deal right now. Click below.”
So the people that want to buy now will do that and for the people that don’t…
You can contact them later, start a conversation and suddenly you have an amazing audience you can sell to.
This technique can have a massive difference in your marketing.
